Heating and Cooling With a Programmable Thermostat

Do you find that you leave your HVAC running when it doesn’t need to be? Is it another thing to think about to manually adjust the thermostat so that your unit is running efficiently? Have you considered upgrading to a programmable thermostat? If not, here’s a few reasons why it’s a smart option.

Cost-Effective

Using a programmable thermostat will mean that your HVAC system is running more efficiently. Efficiency goes hand in hand with money saving. It may cost a little initially to have the thermostat installed, but in no time you will notice the savings on your utility bills. All of us have a different daily routine and by creating a heating and cooling schedule that is tailor-made to suit, you don’t have to keep the AC or the heating on high if you’re not at home. Every turn of the temperature dial counts when it comes to saving energy and money.

Convenient

This one is simple. Spend less time having to adjust your thermostat. Okay, so you will need to spend a little time on the initial set up, but it will be totally worth it when you don’t have to think about manual adjustments all the time.

Give Your HVAC System a Vacation

You need a vacation, but so does your HVAC unit. By using a programmable thermostat you can run your air conditioning at a higher than normal temperature while you are away, so it’s not working unnecessarily. If you’re a fan of technology (no pun intended) and have a wifi thermostat or a smart model, you can also program it so that just before you are due home, the system kicks back in again to get your home back to a comfortable temperature.

Alerts to Check Your Filter

Some smart thermostats can even alert you to when it is time to change your filter or get your heating and cooling system serviced.

Temperature Consistency

By using a programmable thermostat you can keep heating and cooling levels at a constant temperature. We often find that adjusting our units manually, we crank up our air conditioning when we’re feeling the heat during the day, but as the temperature drops we’re turning up the heat. Understandable, but are we turning it up too high or too low? If the temperatures are programmed, all the hard work is done for us and it’s done consistently.

Preventing Overuse

Your HVAC system works hard! It takes care of you, but do you take care of it? Overusing your heating and cooling system unnecessarily means that there is an increase in required repairs and maintenance and stress to the unit. By using a programmable thermostat you can ensure that it’s only running when it needs to, instead of working it to the max!
